Jarett Ott

Jarrett Ott is an emerging baritone currently based out of New York City who received his master’s degree at the Curtis Institute of Music under the tutelage of Marlena Kleinman Malas. Previously he studied with baritone, Randall Scarlata. This summer he is a part of The Santa Fe Opera’s Apprentice Program for Singers singing Marullo in Rigoletto and covering the role of Inman in the world premier of Jennifer Higdon’s Cold Mountain.
Mr. Ott recently made his professional debuts with Gotham Chamber Opera, Opera Philadelphia, The American Symphony Orchestra, and Annapolis Opera. He has been featured in lead baritone roles for the Curtis Opera Theatre including Dandini in Rossini’s La Cenerentola, Marquis de la Force in Poulenc’s Dialogues des carmélites, Argante in Handel’s Rinaldo, Aeneas in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Gregor Mittenhoffer in Henze’s Elegy for Young Lovers, Valentin in Gounod’s Faust, Harašta in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen, and Le Mari in Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tiresias. Jarrett was a participant at the Chautauqua Institution for the 2009-12 seasons with leading roles in Le Nozze di Figaro (Count Almaviva), L’elisir d’amore (Belcore), The Crucible (John Proctor), and the title role in Gianni Schicchi.
As an avid recitalist and concert artist, Mr. Ott spent two seasons as a young artist at Marlboro Music and has made debuts with the New York Choral Society and the Bucks County Choral Society. He is a frequent soloist with Philadelphia’s LyricFest, and in the fall of 2011 he traveled to both China and South Korea with the Curtis Chamber Orchestra.
In 2014, Jarrett was a competition finalist in the George London Foundation and a semi-finalist in the McCammon Voice Competition.  He is a Third Prize winner of the Gerda Lissner Foundation Competition and received a grant from The Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation. He advanced to the Regional auditions in Washington D.C. after winning the Philadelphia District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Most recently, he was granted a Career Development Award from the Sullivan Foundation.
In the 2015-16 season, Jarrett will perform with Opera Philadelphia as Marchese D'Obigny in La Traviata and will cover W.P. Inman in the East Coast Premiere of Cold Mountain.
